Updated with latest version for 2.10.X to have option to say YES/NO to blending.
Blending will try to match colors using average color of 2 colors of DMC thread.
Slower, but in theory (based on law of average 50% of one thread color and 50% of another thread color) should produce a better matching color.
Experimental.

Updated with lastest version 17. Limit blending to close colors to produce superior/convincing blended colors.
Also for Thead Ino image, show DMC sample as 2 actual DMC colors for blended colors instead of the fictional average color so it's easier to identify which DMC color we're using for that pattern symbol.

Updated with version 18. Option to choose "Third-Blend" which uses 3 strands (1 strand of 1 color and 2 strands of another color).

I can only say... thaaaaaanks Tim!!!!
Many years doing cross stitch (I am 66) and at last I have found an useful tool for make my own grids.
The results look like professional and really beautiful, in fact I can read better small grids in Gimp than in papers printed in books or mags about cross stitch. I have some doubts but nothing important, I love this tool!! I am using Debian Stretch and Gimp 2.10 and works fine.

Hi Tim!

I have been using during these days your amazing script and I have some questions about it... too many! :)
I am not good at programming so I am sure that I am saying stupid things, be patience, please!

- Why I can't use "indexed images"? The script only admits rgb-mode pics.
- Why do you use that symbols so strange? From Unicode? Could I choose my own symbols or numbers for my pattern???

I read the script in Python but it looks like chinese for me! At least I have your comments inside.
Thanks a lot.
